Today I dropped my e90 off at BMW of Alexandria for brake fluid flush. When I returned to pick the car up they told me it had to be "jumped" in the garage before it started, and told me I needed a new battery ($500). However, when they retrieved the car for me it started right up, and when I asked them to take a read on the battery it tested fine (producing 633 cold crank amps--over the 570 or so reqd). I really don't want to be stranded and don't know if I should go with the dealer's first instruction or the later reading. The battery is original to the car. I did notice a few months ago that a battery pictogram briefly displayed in the CBS section of the dash but thought nothing of it. I thought this would be a DIY but others online say the computer must be reset after installation of a new battery. Any help/insight/advice anyone could give would be appreciated!
