e46 subframe class action

I received notice in the mail of a class action relating to subframes of e46s, 1996-2006 3 series.

I leased a 2005 325i, which I bought at the end of the lease, and then sold. I passed on the information on the class action to the buyer, but I wanted to know if anyone here had any insight into this situation.

The website is www.e46subframeclassactionsettlement.com if anyone here owns a 1996-2006 3 series that might not have received notice of the class action settlement. I don't know, and certainly don't recommend, that anyone participate or not participate in the class action; I'm posting this for informational purposes, and also as a favor to my buyer, to pass along any information anyone here might have.

i received the same notice; for a moment I thought it covered e36 Z3s since they have more of an issue with the subframe ripping out than e46s.

I received the notice as well, but its really only for those folks who have had sub-frame damage and paid for the repair or still need their sub-frame damage paid for by BMW. My bimmer has never had any sub-frame issues to this point so for me the paperwork is a non-issue. The majority of my forum reading on the issue points to the 328i and the 325i having a majority of the sub-frame issues. I don't recall reading of a single 323i ever having sub-frame issues, please correct me if I'm wrong. Happy Motoring...

Hmmm. I thought the E46 was first introduced in all markets around the 98 or 99 model year.

I didn't look too carefully at this notice, since I sold my 325i over a year ago, and it clearly didn't relate to the '07 335i.

It appears to be a rear subframe issue, which I never had a problem with and therefore an occassion to have repaired during my ownership of the '05 325i.

That said, the fellow who bought my car may have had a different experience in the last year or so....

I never modified the suspension or the wheels, and I am guessing my buyer didn't as well.

I did note the handsome legal fees for the counsel for the class action plaintiff; I'm clearly in the wrong business!
