Description: For Sale: 1987 325i Convertible, 5 speed, metallic blue with blue cloth top. 173,500 miles Positives: Straight body panels, no major accidents. New windshield, headlights, foglights, clutch, and timing belt in 2006 along with new brake rotors and brake pads. Yoko Avid 4Hs tires with 8/32nd tread remaining on bottle cap rims. Aftermarket carpet and seat covers in 2007. New guibo, drive-line bearing, and diff seals in 2008. Recently refreshed shift linkage parts means no more fork-in-the-spaghetti shifting. Engine runs smoothly, but compression is down. Does not smoke or burn amount of excessive oil. Just passed MD emissions test. Leather seats have normal wear for age but no major tears. They do have some crude stitching repairs though, hence the seat covers. If you are in Maryland, you can register it as historic and skip the MSI.The bad: Compression is around 130 across all cylinders. Must use 20 wt oil or plugs will foul. Very thick respray on hood has cracked -- actually quite an interesting spider-web pattern. If the whole car was like this, you could call it an art car and impress your friends. AC weak, but heat works well and blower is strong. Tired suspension -- could use new struts. Needs a new instrument cluster -- speedometer and fuel gauge no longer work. Stitching around the plastic window in the soft top is starting to go. On the left rear quarter panel, there is about an 9 inch crack in the paint that indicates there may be rust from the inside of the panel.Asking price with cloth top: $1800.Terms: Cash or Paypal. I can drive the car and park it at your house if you're within 2 hours of Frederick, Maryland, otherwise you need to arrange to tow it from zip 21771.Optional hard top available too. Car with hardtop: $2600. Send PM if you have questions. More photos here: http://gallery.nccbmwcca.org/showgal...27&ppuser=1096
