    Rear Swaybar Drop Links

OK, it seemed like a good idea at the time....

While replacing the rear shocks on my e30 325is, I noticed the bushings in the drop links were shot. Unbolt the old ones, pull the drop links off the bar, slap on some new ones, bolt them on and go on my way. 60 minutes max.

Everything came off easy enough, but I cannot get the new ones pressed on. I've tried every type of grease I have; I tried using a vice-clamp; I even took the bar off and tried to press it in by standing on the bar end.

The Bentley manual is no help. My other shop manual says "assembly is the reverse of disassembly" which, although true, isn't particularly helpful. Anyone have a trick to doing this?

Turns out the answer is dish soap.
