Before I give Recarro $700, can anyone recommend a used seat facility, or another brand of "sport" seat that is a bit more economical than Recarro?

Check out the sport seats in Saliya's M3. They are the Recaro/BMW sport seats that he had custom reupholstered in real Alpina cloth and Alcantara that he purchased in a roll from Alpina: http://members.cox.net/bmwm3/

He's having the rear done to match. I don't know if it is your price range but is pretty sweet.

...but my problem is that the frame of the drivers seat is bent. I already had the cables adjusted, but I really need a replacement seat all together. This is my work commuter car, so I'm behind the wheel at least 4 days a week...and my back reminds me of this every weekend

You could swap the passenger's seat for the driver's - makes the thigh bolster button harder to find & need to swap armrests & seatbelt receivers, but it's doable.
