The "Service" light came on this month, and since I was at BMW of Sterling today, I thought I would get an appointment. I was surprised to find the light was for the annual State safety inspection.
My concern is how do I tell the difference between this warning light and BMW required maintenance? Had I gone to a non-BMW shop for the State safety inspection, the "Service" light would remain on, and I would be concerned that there's some problem which is not correct.
Are BMW dealers programming the BMW computer for routine State safety inspections? Should I request they do not?
