I am looking for a recommendation for a good place to take my E46 M3 to service its transmission. The Car has been making a grinding noise when at idle but goes away once its in gear. This past week all of the sudden it felt like the car wasn't completely in gear and was shuddering going down the road and the service engine light came on. The person I took it too said the whole transmission is bad and it couldn't be rebuilt and i would have to replace it to the tune of over 3000 dollars (at lest according to him). I think i am getting taken for a ride on this and I want a second opinion can you folks recommend anyone in the Northern Virginia area that won't do that, thanks.
