I have an '04 Mini Cooper S and am having trouble unlocking a double-locked door. I'm told the Mini uses the same internal double locking mechanism used in current BMWs. When you press down the door lock button, you disable the automatic unlock in the event of a collision and make the door more secure so if someone breaks a window, they cannot unlock the door without the key. (I'm taking on faith this is true.)

The problem is I can't seem to get the button to pop up again. I've tried unlocking from the internal switch, from the remote, from the key. Unlocking and holding the key. No combination seems to work and no one on the Mini forums have seen this behavior before. The door locks are still functional and I can unlock the doors from the internal switch to exit the car, but the button just doesn't pop up any more.

I'm just trying to figure out if this is functioning as designed or sign of some other problem. Anyone had this happen to them?
