Would anyone be interested in getting together for beer, cigars and friendly games of poker?

You bet!!

I'm in Columbia, would love a friendly, and (relatively) low stakes game (either a hold-em tournament with a fixed buy-in or a free-form game, but with reasonable bet limits).

I'm happy to help organize if needed (I have 2 sets of chips).

I just picked up a new1000 chip set (13.5 grams) but more chips the better. If you want to help organize that would be good. I can host 5 or 6 players at my place (Laurel, MD).

I'm always down for beer and poker as long as it's for real money like $20-$50 buy in.

Looks like there is plenty of interest so I am going to throw out two date for the first game.

July 24th or the 31st, 6pm - ??. Location: TBD (Laurel/Columbia area).

Reply letting me know which date works best for you.

Those can work for me, but driving to MD from nova at 6 might be trouble. 20-50$ buy in is cool, lets keep it small.

Yeah, I bought my M3 in Richmond and hit NOVA around 5:30 6 pm on the way home and it sucked.

At the moment the 24th is OK for me, not sure I can sell it to "the Boss" (my wife). 31st is not good for me.

Not a great time for me to host the game, our kitchen is being redone so at the moment I don't have one. Happy to bring along supplies as needed (food, drinks, cigars, chips). Always good to bring singles, for making change at the end of the night!

Paul, I have been in your shoes, it was relatively easy for me to learn these games (particularly if we are only playing hold 'em, but even if we change the games up they all have the same core concepts; the rest is strategy). There are online *free* poker sites, that is a great place to learn the games. As a warning, they are addicting and can become big time consumers (and lead to the *not free* poker sites, which can get dangerous).

yeah, i have very little free time as it is, so picking up a gambling addiction would def kill the golf/mod funds

I can't go on the 24th, the 31st would be better. $20 buy in is fine.

I know this date was not one I posted but I will be holding a poker night at my house (Laurel, MD) on Aug 1, 5PM. Seating is limited so PM or email me to get the address and reserve a spot. Buy-in is TBD but no more than $20.

I will have Newcastle and Miller Light. Feel free to bring the drink of your choice.

Bring your own cigars.

I have replied to all my PMs, if you sent me a message but did not get a reply let me know.

Looks like we will have 7-9 players (half being NCC members).
