Is Test & Tune an autocross event? What does TSP stand for?

TSP stands for fun! (Not really - It's Summit Point's new Triple Skid Pad facility that's going to make an awesome autocross venue.)

For those who haven't heard of it, it's 1300 ft. long and 300 ft. wide.

It's something to be very excited about. We will be the first club to use it as an autocross venue. (There will be several drift events on it over the winter.)

That video was done on the Shenandoah Circuit.

Good work Jonathan. Unfortunately everyone will be on the One Lap of America May 2.

You can use it as your drop event :)

How many local AutoX'ers run the one lap ... I can only think of two that attend our events!

NASA-MA is seriously considering this new venue as well. I got the grand tour a couple of weeks ago. It is AWESOME. Far better in person than in pictures & diagrams.

Can't wait,

I'm waiting to hear back from MSP. School will most likely be in April @<hidden> MSP.

Also, we will be at Bowie in Sept and Oct - and that's where ChapterFest will be. Dates still up in the air as the stadium schedule is not yet finalized.

BTW ... No worries about going off the pavement once completed as the soil / grass will be flush with the skidpad surface. No POS recovery vehicles needed.

I'm glad to see the March autocross was moved to the 28th to avoid a conflict with our tentative Drivers School at Summit Point on March 21-22. Is there a reason you want the first one to be for practice instead of a "points" event? It seems to me we should have as many points events as possible.

It's still up in the air Woody. Along with the actual number of events we are going to put on this year.

A big consideration is that points events typically are not held until after the annual school. We want to give newcomers an opportunity to run the entire points season with us, after the school. We must consider newcomers just as much as the veterans.

Actually, it was the complete opposite. I LOVED the event. Strapped snow tires on the car and went for some fun.

I'm not sure I miss the winter series, miserably cold, and maybe 20% of normal traction! BTW, the portojohn wreck car was an EVO, none of the 2wd's hit anything, although I needed 4 workers to push me off of a snow bank!

That's right, it was an Evo. Wasn't the driver bragging too about how well it would do?

Yea, and he was on AX slicks! His big mistake was leaving the tracks in the slush, resulting in a long slide through the finish and up on the curb, tipping over an empty john which tipped over the occupied unit. I was working at the last turn!

I was there too, and my father was next to the portajohns at the time (I was also working the course).

That was more than a tip. That thing was punted, with a kid inside, who had to go to the hospital.

I'm glad I finally remembered to check this page! I've updated the dates into my work calendar and look forward to participating with you guys this year. I did just 1 event last year (the last one) in my silver Z4. This year I've got an E46 M3 so I'll have to work on the driver mod quick to hang in S1 class!

Looking forward to it! -Mike

What's your prediction on S2? and T2? Are they going to be "VERY fun" too?

I was planning on continuing in S2 to do the same as last year.. gotta defend the title :) but my BFG KDW-2 tires will not last the season. 4/32" now.

While I like them and they would keep me in showroom category, I would rather get the Dunlop Direzza Star Spec, which would put me in the T2 since I do other autocross besides BMW.

Any predictions??

Thanks.

I'll make sure to add this to the FAQ's.

Anyhow, cost is $25.00 for BMWCCA members and $35.00 for Non-Members

Registration for the first event is available now: http://www.nccbmwcca.org/index.php?view=details&id=105%3Aautox-points-event-1&option=com_eventlist&Itemid=26
