View Full Version : Sign-up for VIR June 15-16?

FT

So, how will we sign up for the joint MB/Audi/NCC event in June at VIR? The MB guys have it listed on their site but getting responses to e-mails is impossible (wink wink Steven, lol). Is this event going to be listed at our site, or will we have a registration page, or are we at the mercy of MB guys?

Thanks,

I believe registration is going to be through MB.
The weekend Mazda school is half full.
I want to do it but there is a lack of funds situation.
Just ordered harnesses and need replacement calipers.
My track budget is dwindling.

Rafael is our BMW contact.

FT,
Steven is correct, the registration will be through the MB site and should be open today or tomorrow (i.e., very soon).
We will be providing a link to their website, but all registration will be throught their site. Note that they are experimenting with Paypal, but you can still simply print the registration form and mail them a check.

Should be fun.

Great news! I've been trying to determine how to get a VIR school in mid summer and was about to do the Mazda school. Love the end of week format.

I used the same tactic and it only took 3 hours for her forgiveness :D

I am only going to the Mazda event, there will be a caravan of about 14-15 cars through Rt 29 on Friday before the event, starting noonish.

I won't know if I am in until probably Tuesday, but Dave says there is a good chance.

I am I missing something or is there still no registration on the Mercedes Benz Site? Or perhaps the delay is simply trying to give additional meaning to "Marque Madness" ... registration is always a day or two away?

I am I missing something or is there still no registration on the Mercedes Benz Site? You are not missing anything.
It will be at http://www.gws-mbca.org/.
On a positive note, I bet you will have lots of track to yourself.

And FT. It looks like the Mazda school (58% sold) is not full so I'll be there. :)

Well, at least you are getting the same answer as I'm getting.

Fingers crossed that we actually get a registration link that works and that we get some students. It's a big track that we need to fill.

What's wrong? Didn't you get enough sleep last night?

Today is *April* 21 - you have a month to register and still qualify for the early registration amount. ;)

So how many of us going there? I got 2 friends of mine to join me for this even. A 318ti (actually he might drive his "new" e30 325) and a scooby legacy GT. I wonder how this compares to the Mazda event, those seem to be more popular?

I wonder how this compares to the Mazda event, those seem to be more popular? The Mazda event is more established and seem to have a large instructor corp. The joint school is taking a little while to get established. We had many instructors not show last year but made the best of it. Some people unfortunately missed a couple sessions. Also the run group assignments are not science. We misgrouped I'm sure more than a few. It is difficult to assign groups based solely on the number of schools. I hope it all works out this year. Having a 4 day school is a lot of fun. I still need to decide whether I am going. I'm signed up for the weekend.

I just recently join the chapter and wala! sure enuf a driving crse available. (MB Audi BMW)

Steven or anyone! Im kinda on the fence on this one, since its with MB/Audi mbrs plus its seems like just starting and may not have enuf time for me to learn with few instructors. Have you guys had experience from this guys!

How many instructors will be here on this 15-16Jun crse? are they certified?

What is this Mazda thing you guys are talking about? Where's the link?
4Days? what are you guys talking about?

Do you guys think this is just as good as BMW Performance Center at SC?

By God its so cheap compared to the Performance center, there must be a reason.

Will I trash my 06 e90 with this crse?

Any feedback is welcome, I just need a little nudge perhaps!:icon_ques

The four-day discussion comes from combining the Thur-Fri MB/Audi/BMW event with Sat-Sun Mazda Drivers event.
These on-track high performance schools vary quite a bit from the BMW Performance Center events. The later emphasises car control exercises while driving their new BMWs. In the VIR events you will be learing to lap one of the finest race tracks in the world while driving your own car. Not much matches the thrill of the uphill esses at 100+ mph, but you will not be learning the car-control skills you receive at the Performance Center school.

There is little chance of trashing your car, but you should be aware that it can happen.

What kind of car control do they teach you at these performance center schools? Are we talking about skid pad type, or is more of a "highway safety" type school?

I haven't been to a Performance Center event, but I think you get skid pad and other car control exercises, as you do at the chapter's Highway Safety School. Maybe someone who has done both can chime in here.

Maybe someone who has done both can chime in here.I think we got 1 skid pad session. It was more to experience the skid than controlling or inducing it. NCC gives you more instruction when it comes to that. The Center gives you a nice Safety School but the real fun is the autocross circuit. First a short one, then the full course. I think it's worth the money to beat on someone elses car. They actually want you to push them. :) Faster! Faster! Also it's a chance to drive different cars. It's unlikely that I will ever own any of the cars we drove.

I think NASCAR was doing some testing.
You can have visitors. They probably just want to restrict casual on lookers.
